Our Position on Civil Rules Reform
The Middlesex Law Association (MLA) stands firmly in support of a balanced, accessible, and just civil litigation system in Ontario. As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts, we have submitted detailed recommendations to the Civil Rules Committee, reflecting the voices and concerns of our members and the broader legal community.
We believe:
-Civil rules must promote access to justice—not restrict it.
-Procedural efficiency should never come at the cost of fairness or due process.
-Reforms must consider the realities faced by litigants, practitioners, and the judiciary alike.
We thank our members for their thoughtful input and encourage continued engagement as we advocate for practical, evidence-informed improvements to the legal system.
We would also like to extend a big thank you to the MLA Task Force for helped curate our response to the Civil Rules Working Group.
