DESCRIPTION:This program contains 1 hour of Professionalism content. \nThe Zoom session will be open at 7:30pm for networking and connecting with colleagues. \nWe are delighted to welcome Dr. Emily Jones\, who will speak about occupational burnout and personal wellbeing for lawyers. During our session\, Dr. Jones will discuss: \n\nthe implications of burnout and wellbeing;\nthe identity of burnout as it relates to lawyers;\ncontributors to burnout within the profession;\nthe degree to which burnout and its effects are prevalent;\napproaches to resolving burnout at different levels within the field;\nand strategies to preserve personal wellbeing.\n\n  \nWellbeing is an increasingly recognized need for lawyers; however\, there are considerable challenges addressing the issue. Unlike burnout\, wellbeing is not strictly a work-related construct but instead is multifaceted and comprised of personal\, social\, cultural\, and professional domains. By impacting occupational burnout\, personal wellbeing may shift in a more positive direction.

DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW for the 194th Fall Opening of the Courts on Thurs. September 15\, 2022 when we will come together to celebrate our colleagues\, our community\, and a fresh start as we move into a bright and exciting future as a bench and bar! After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic\, this event will return in person with a ceremony and reception in the Shuttleworth Community Gallery followed by a dinner for speakers\, invited guests\, and sponsors in the River Room. \nOur keynote speaker will be the Honourable Regional Senior Justice Bruce G. Thomas. We look forward to hearing from Law Society Treasurer Jacqueline Horvat who will welcome new calls since 2020 and our Local Administrative Judges who will share an update on the state of the courts and recognize their colleagues who have been appointed to the bench since 2020. \nWe will also acknowledge the passing of those in the Middlesex legal community since we last gathered.
