SUMMARY:194th Fall Annual Opening of the Courts
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW for the 194th Fall Opening of the Courts on Thurs. September 15\, 2022 when we will come together to celebrate our colleagues\, our community\, and a fresh start as we move into a bright and exciting future as a bench and bar! After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic\, this event will return in person with a ceremony and reception in the Shuttleworth Community Gallery followed by a dinner for speakers\, invited guests\, and sponsors in the River Room. \nOur keynote speaker will be the Honourable Regional Senior Justice Bruce G. Thomas. We look forward to hearing from Law Society Treasurer Jacqueline Horvat who will welcome new calls since 2020 and our Local Administrative Judges who will share an update on the state of the courts and recognize their colleagues who have been appointed to the bench since 2020. \nWe will also acknowledge the passing of those in the Middlesex legal community since we last gathered. We will present Distinguished Service\, Access to Justice\, Philanthropy\, and Rising Star Awards to our colleagues. \nWe look forward to celebrating with other judiciary\, lawyers\, representatives of the local Indigenous communities\, partners in the judicial system\, police services representatives from London and surrounding areas\, members from local faith communities\, and local political representatives. \nProgram \n4:30pm: Procession from Museum London’s lower level to the Shuttleworth Community Gallery \n4:45-6:00pm: Ceremony in the Shuttleworth Community Gallery \n6:00-6:45pm: Reception in the Shuttleworth Community Gallery \n7:00-8:30pm: Bench & Bar Dinner in the River Room (limited capacity for speakers\, invited guests\, and sponsors) \nFor more information\, please contact Jennifer Foster\, the MLA’s Executive Director.
